Requirements to make Kratom Tincture

  • Tincture Bottle
  • Ethanol (80 – 100 Proof)
  • Citric Acid
  • A Mason Jar (or similar container, glass preferably)
  • A Very Fine Strainer (We use a cheese cloth strainer)

How to Make Your Kratom Tincture

Step 1: To start, find a potent kratom strain with effects that match those you’d like in your tincture. As a general rule of thumb, you will want to start out with four to six ounces of kratom powder at minimum to provide a sizeable amount of tincture.

Step 2: Now, measure your kratom out and put it inside the mason jar. Then, submerged it in your ethanol. The amount of alcohol you’ll need will depend directly on how much kratom you are using. Generally speaking, for the best results, you should use one liter per 4 ounces of kratom.

Step 3: Once the kratom has been submerged in the alcohol, it’s time to add the citric acid. The best kratom tinctures will have a PH of 4. The most precise way to gauge the PH level is with PH strips, but they are not absolutely required. The mixture should taste slightly sour. The purpose of citric acid is to help acidify your solution, so that the alkaloids drop into salt form, making them easier to extract.

Step 4: Now that the alcohol and citric acid have been added, you will need to seal the mason jar and shake it intermittently for several hours. From there, place the jar in a dark and cool area. Keep it in that area for one to two weeks in order to get the most potent results.

Step 5: Once one to two weeks have passed, shake up your tincture again for about one hour. Then, pour the mixture through a cheese cloth to catch any kratom powder. Go ahead and throw this powder away, and save the murky tincture solution. Pour the solution back into the mason jar with the lid off, and let it evaporate until only a small amount of liquid remains. Typically, with 4 ounces, you should evaporate the mixture enough to fill at least 4 tincture droppers (one per ounce of kratom).

You’re finished! Just make sure to shake the droppers thoroughly before each use.

Place the dropper underneath your tongue, and squeeze out the tincture slowly. It is important to give it time to be properly absorbed while refraining from swallowing it.
