One of the most potent ways to consume kratom, is by preparing a kratom tea.
Enjoy all the benefits that kratom has to offer, in a soothing, hot tea beverage! It is a proven fact that kratom powder does not lose its potency and positive effects when it is made into a tea. Unlike the poppy plant, which loses some of its effects when it is heated at high temperatures, kratom will keep its strength even after it has been heated into a beverage.
In this article, you will learn how to make potent kratom tea in many different ways.
Let’s get started!
Did you know Kratom Tea is More Powerful?
The effects of mitragyna speciosa, or kratom, comes from the alkaloid content inside the leaves of the plant. Originating from Asia, kratom was traditionally consumed by chewing on the leaves plucked from kratom trees. However, nowadays there are several ways to enjoy the benefits of this herb. One of the strongest and most potent among them, is kratom tea.
This type of herbal tea can be made using whole leaves from the plant, or powder created by drying the leaves out and finely crushing them. When the leaves or powder are heated to boiling point, the pace of the alkaloids increase. Due to the heightened alkaloid pace, the body is able to absorb them at a faster rate into the bloodstream. Which, ultimately leads to a significantly more potent effect on the body and mind.

How to make tea in a coffee maker or Keurig
For the best results, follow these steps:
- Measure out your desired dose of powdered kratom leaves
- Place the kratom into a coffee pot filter
- Go ahead and fill up your coffee pot with water, it is recommended to use 4 to 6 cups (or more depending on how much tea you are making, and how potent you want it to be)
- Wait as your coffee pot fills with tea
- Once the kratom is done being brewed, repeat the process with that same kratom and brewed kratom water (by pouring it back into the water reservoir). Do this at least three times until you notice the filter begins to become weak.
- When your tea is complete, you can drink it straight away or save the tea in a gallon tea jug inside your fridge.
For kratom tea with a Keurig – Fill your k-cup filter with your desired dose of kratom and choose the smallest cup for brewing. Once your kratom has brewed one time, stir the remaining kratom in your k-cup filter, pour the brewed tea into the Keurig reservoir, and brew it a second and a third time. Now, enjoy your tea, or save it in the refrigerator inside a sealed container.
How to make tea with a french press
Add the produce protector to the french press. Then, measure 10 grams of kratom powder and add it to the french press. Once the water is heated, slowly pour it into the french press, being sure to leave at least one inch of space at the top of it, in order to insert the french press filter/plunger. It is important that, when you are making kratom tea with a french press, to let the tea steep for at least 20-30 minutes.
How to make kratom tea in microwave
- The first step is to fill a cup with ½ a cup of water and put it in the microwave until the water reaches boiling point. Typically, this would take between 5 and 10 minutes.
- Once the water has reached boiling point, remove it from the microwave and add your usual kratom powder dosage to the water. Stir the kratom in until it is well blended.
- Put the cup back into the microwave, and cook it at boiling point for a few more minutes. This should cause the kratom to dissolve.
- The last step is to carefully pour your tea from the cup and through a strainer, into a second cup. This will get rid of any residual powder.
TIP: Re-use any remaining kratom powder to make another batch of tea.
How to make kratom tea bags
To make tea bags using kratom, you will first need to purchase some empty tea steeping bags. Then, using your preferred kratom strain powder, fill the empty tea bags with 1 to 3 grams of powder, depending on your tolerance. Now, you can store the tea bags in a sealed container for future use, or make some tea just as you would normally, except we recommend steeping the tea bags for at least 20 minutes before consuming.
Additional Tips for Making tea with Strong Kratom Effects
- To avoid bitter taste, add a spoonful of sugar, or honey, to your tea. Another option is to mix your tea with some fruit juice such as lime juice, or add it to a freshly brewed coffee drink.
- If you want to enhance the kratom alkaloids in your tea, it is best to add the kratom to boiling water in a cup, as opposed to boiling the kratom powder itself over the stove top.
- Start by taking small doses of your tea. You can always dose more as needed, but everyone’s tolerance level is different. You are always better off consuming less, see how the kratom effects you, and take more as needed for pain, sedative, or euphoric benefits.
- Brewing your tea with whole kratom leaves may help those who struggle with chronic pain, particularly with the use of red bali kratom.
- For added energy and an enhanced kratom profile, mix your tea with freshly brewed green tea.
