Before we jump into our favorite potent kratom tea recipes, here’s a little background on the plant we consider to be our personal favorite: Kratom.

Technically speaking, kratom is a tropical evergreen tree in the coffee family, native to Southeast Asia. Indigenous to Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, Myanmar, and Papua New Guinea – where people have been using kratom medicinally since before the nineteenth century. Traditionally, kratom was consumed via chewing fresh kratom leaves or brewing kratom tea to drink.

When consumed, this botanical plant has the ability to produce a long list of benefits. Many people use kratom for pain, due to its natural pain killing effects and ability to relax sore, tense muscles. The kratom plant is also commonly used to ease feelings of anxiety and depression. Depending on the kratom strain consumed, euphoria, stimulation, and an increase in one’s mental focus and energy levels can also be felt.

There are many different ways to consume the kratom plant, such as the “toss and wash” method of consuming kratom powder, the simple method of swallowing kratom capsules, or the traditional method of making kratom tea. Many kratom users prefer the taste of brewing kratom tea over the other methods. There are several ways to brew the perfect kratom tea, and in this post, you’ll learn some of our favorite kratom tea recipes (including a Kratom Plants favorite – Our strong kratom tea recipe!).

Kratom Tea Preparation

Before we let you in on our potent kratom tea recipes, we need to address a few important tips you’ll need to follow if you want strong kratom tea effects.

When it comes to brewing kratom tea, many mistakenly boil kratom powder or kratom leaves on high heat, and you DO NOT want to boil kratom, as boiling water will kill off a lot of your strain’s natural alkaloid content. In turn, your kratom tea won’t provide much in the effects department. If you want potent kratom tea, you’ll need to boil the water PRIOR to adding it into the cup with your kratom powder.

If you’re really serious about maintaining your kratom strains alkaloid content, add fresh lemon juice to your powder or kratom leaf and allow it to soak for any period of time before adding hot water.

On another note, it’s important to remember that everyone has a different tolerance level when it comes to kratom. In regards to kratom dosage: If you are a new kratom user, we recommend starting off with 1-2 grams of kratom per serving of tea. Remember: You can always add more kratom, but you cannot take any of it out of your tea. So, as a rule of thumb, always start with a smaller kratom dose.

REMEMBER: Kratom tea can be kept in the fridge for up to 5 days. If you add alcohol to your kratom tea, the mixture will last even longer in the refrigerator.

Kratom Tea Dosages

Below, we’ve listed basic guidelines regarding the amount of kratom powder or kratom leaves you should use when making your tea, depending on how potent you want it to be. Please keep in mind that new users should start off with small doses of kratom, and add more as needed! Everyone has a different tolerance to kratom, and should keep that in mind when deciding how much powder/leaf to use in brewing kratom tea.

Mild Effects: 1 gram kratom powder or leaf

Moderate Effects: 3 grams kratom powder or leaf

Strong Effects: 5 grams kratom powder or leaf

Very Strong Effects: 10 grams kratom powder or leaf

Highly Potent Powerful Effects: +15 grams kratom powder or leaf (Experienced kratom users ONLY)

Best Kratom Tea Recipes

Kratom Tea    Boiling Pot Method

Making kratom tea using a boiling pot of water is the ideal method for large batches of kratom tea. This method is a major crowd pleaser – and the remaining kratom tea can be kept in the fridge in jars for later consumption.

What You Need:

  • Pot for boiling (can be any size, depending on the amount of kratom tea you’re making
  • 4-6 cups water (again, adjust depending on how much tea you’ll be brewing)
  • Kratom powder or kratom leaf in the strain of your choice
  • -Mesh strainer or cheesecloth

Instructions:

Add water to the pot and bring to a boil. Reduce heat and allow water to slow to a gentle boil. Add kratom powder or kratom leaves and simmer the mixture for 10-20 minutes. It’s ideal to continuously stir or whisk the mixture during this time, but that’s not required. After simmering the mixture, pour contents through your strainer or cheesecloth into a jar or large container.

TIPS:

  • If you’re using whole kratom leaves, keep them after brewing your tea. Whole leaves can be used again (up to 3 times) depending on how long you steep your tea.
  • To sweeten kratom tea, or make kratom tea taste better, you can add honey, maple syrup, agave, splenda, sugar or any sweetener of your choice.

Kratom Tea    Kettle or Teapot Method

One of my favorite kratom tea methods is this one: Simple and effective!

What You Need:

  • Kettle or Teapot
  • Water
  • Empty (or emptied) tea bags or tea ball
  • Kratom Leaf or Kratom powder in your choice of strain

Instructions:

Start with your empty tea bags (you can empty tea bags you currently have) or your tea ball. Go ahead and add your desired amount of kratom powder or leaf into the bag or ball. This method works best with loose leaf, but can also be done with powder. Add water to your kettle and turn the heat up to high to get the water boiling. If you feel like sitting and watching your kratom tea brew, you can place the tea bags or ball directly into your kettle. On the other hand, if you don’t feel like keeping an eye on the tea bags/ball, simply bring your water to a boil. Once the kettle is whistling, turn off the heat and allow the water to sit in the kettle OFF HEAT for 1 minute. Pour the hot water into your mug or thermos and add the tea bag or ball – that’s it! For the most potent kratom tea, allow the bag or ball to steep in the hot water for as long as you can resist drinking it! The longer it steeps, the more potent it becomes.

TIPS:

  • We recommend adding the juice from a lemon slice to this tea, as well as a few sugar cubes if you’d like to sweeten this kratom tea recipe up. If you prefer iced tea, make sure to add the lemon juice and sugar to the tea while it’s still hot, then store the mixture with a lid in your refrigerator and pour over ice the next day.

Kratom Tea    Sun Tea Brewing Method

Did you know: Leaves release flavor when wet – regardless of whether they are placed in cool water or hot water. Tea is usually made with hot water, due to the fact that cold water takes longer to infuse with the leaves added to it. Regardless of the temperature of water you use to brew your kratom tea, the flavor will be the same in the end. That said, sun tea is a fun and unique method of brewing kratom tea and works great if you have additional time and want to brew a large amount of tea.

What You Need:

  • One gallon jug or another large container
  • Water
  • Kratom leaves in your preferred strain
  • Tea bags or balls (this is optional)

Instructions:

Fill your gallon jug or container with cool-to-room temperature water. Take your kratom leaves and place them inside the water jug (if you are using tea bags or balls, put the kratom leaves inside the bags/balls, then place them inside the water jug). Now, find a spot in your home or apartment that receives a good amount of sun, and place your jug there. You will need to ensure that the jug will get sun for a minimum of 2 hours, but can be left there for up to 10 hours. If necessary, move the jug of tea around to ensure it is staying warm and receiving sunlight.

TIPS:

  • Slice up fresh lemon and/or lime circles and add them to your kratom tea for flavor and a garnish.
  • If you choose to drink your tea immediately, you can add ice cubes to the cup you’ll be using, or directly in the jug.
  • REMEMBER: Making kratom tea using this method may not produce as strong of a drink compared to the stovetop method. This is because sunlight is weaker than heat from a stove.

Strongest Kratom Tea Recipe

This strong kratom tea recipe isn’t for just anyone. If you’re new to the kratom game, I’d advise you to try one of the other good kratom tea recipes I mentioned above. That said, if you are a experienced kratom user or if you’ve built up a kratom tolerance, this is a great recipe for you!

Before we get into how to make strong kratom tea, it’s important to mention that this recipe produces a potent kratom tea that is slightly thicker in texture when compared to the other recipes I’ve shared here. But don’t worry, I myself am extremely picky with textures of food and drinks – this isn’t too bad! But it isn’t necessarily “delicious”, if you know what I mean.

It does pack a major punch, though!

What You Need:

  • 1 large cooking pot
  • 2 liters Water
  • 30 grams Kratom powder or leaves in your preferred strain
  • Stirring utensil
  • 2 oz liquid kratom extract or powdered kratom extract or resin kratom extract
  • Cheese cloth or mesh straining device
  • 2 fresh lemons
  • 1-2 liters of your favorite fruit juice (depending on how potent you want it – less juice means more potent kratom tea. However, if you choose to add more juice to your recipe, simply drink a bigger glass of the tea to produce the same euphoric effects.)
  • Tea bags or balls (this is optional)

Instructions:

Fill your gallon jug or container with cool-to-room temperature water. Take your kratom leaves

First, place your large cooking pot on the stove and turn the burner on to a slightly higher than low heat setting. Pour in the 2 liters of water and add the 30 grams of powdered kratom. Go ahead and stir the water and kratom powder together for about 30 seconds to 1 minute – to allow the kratom powder to evenly disperse throughout the water.

At this point, you’ll want to allow the kratom and water mixture to sit on that low-to-medium heat for approx. 5 minutes before proceeding. Once 5 minutes has passed, cut the lemons with one deep slice through the center. You don’t want to cut too deep as to separate the lemon into two pieces. The lemons will still be whole, but with one large slash into their centers. Squeeze the lemons into your large pot with the water and kratom powder mixture. Make sure to distribute the drippings of lemon juice as evenly as possible.

At this point, go ahead and gently stir the mixture and set a timer for 15 minutes, allowing the tea to simmer. When the 15 minutes is up, you’ll want to stir the mixture for 3-5 minutes straight. Using a whisk is best, but a fork works as well. Afterwhich, you’ll need to set the timer for an additional 15 minutes, being sure to keep a close eye on the pot and occasionally stirring (about every 5 minutes).

Once again, stir the tea for 3-5 minutes straight with a whisk or fork. Then, turn the stove heat down to low or “simmer”, and add the kratom extract to your pot. Stir for an additional 2-3 minutes, then set your timer for 10 minutes – stirring at the 5 minute mark.

Alright, once the 10 minutes is up, take your pot off the burner and allow to sit and cool for 10 minutes before continuing to the next step.

At this point, you’ll need to pour the mixture through either a cheesecloth or straining device that is very fine (so as to catch remaining kratom powder particles). This is to separate the solid kratom plant material from the liquid, which is now your potent kratom tea. That said – MAKE SURE you’re straining the liquid into a large bowl or dish, which can then be transferred into a sealed jar for storage purposes.

TIPS:

  • Store any tea you aren’t immediately drinking in the fridge – preferably in a well sealed container.
  • Serve the tea hot with fresh lemon slices, or pour over ice for a cool kratom iced tea.
